If we hope to see the NBA lockout come to an end, and the players and coaches getting back on the court for practice and pre season games for the season, the only way this is going to happen, is if both the players and the owners come together, and come to an agreement as far as the lockout situation. Both sides are going to have to give in a little, if there is ever going to be an agreement made, and if they want to get back on the court for the season.Check out this link here. So, the owners are going to have to give into some contract terms which the players are asking for, and the players are going to have to be willing to take either small cuts in their pay, or a shorter contract extension than what they are looking for.

No matter which side budges first, either the players or the owners are going to have to say they are willing to give in, in order for the lockout to come to a conclusion, and the players and teams to get back on the court, and give their fans the NBA season which they deserve to be able to watch.

The best ways to solve the current labor issues in the NBA is for both sides to get together in a room and talk. It-s billionaire owners against millionaire players and in reality both sides need each other. The owners need the players to fill their arenas and to actually have a product and the players need the owners to pay their salaries. Both sides are far apart in what they are willing to concede but I see no reason why they should wait until the season is close to begin negotiations. What they need to do is get together now and start hammering out a plan so the fans aren-t left without professional basketball this season.

In these meetings player salaries need to be adjusted. Owners have to stop giving out these ridiculous, long term contracts to players who are undeserving. One bad contract can set a franchise back for years. They need lower dollar amounts and fewer years. The players need to get on board for this too because in the end it will make for a better product as a whole.

There are other issues that need to be addressed to such as minimum age for entry into the NBA, and how the league revenue will be split, but the one thing that is certain is that a lockout will no go over well with the fans.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is a contract that the NBA is under. The rules of the players’ contracts, trades, revenue distribution, the Draft, and the salary cap is how it is dictated. Since the CBA expired, (causing the infamous lockout) players, coaches, owners are trying to agree on a new one. Not much has changed between the 1999 and 2005 versions of the CBA, in terms of the salary cap. Since they agreed on the player age minimum, players will get a bit higher percentage of the League’s profit. In addition, the League’s maximum slightly decreased compared to the 1999 CBA. Players like Chauncey Billups, John Wall, Zach Randolph, and Stephen Jackson are going to participate in the Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series played in Las Vegas. But I call it the NBA Lockout League. It has the same NBA rules, eight teams of seven or eight players, no coaches, and with ten minute quarters. The players want to keep in touch with they’re teammates, for example, Kyle Lowry, Chuck Hayes, Chase Budinger, and Courtney Lee will be on the same team. Mo Williams and Deandre Jordan hoping the Rookie Of The Year Blake Griffin will join them too.

There is a lot of speculation that there will not be a 2011/2012 NBA season but I believe there will be. The same question was posed this summer in regards to the NFL and they worked things out and were able to save the season and I think the NBA will too. The only difference is that I think the NBA will not play a full season, I-m thinking it will be more like the 50 game season we had in the 1998/1999 season.

A reason I think that the season will be played is because missing out on a whole season would be disastrous for the NBA. Fans have no sympathy for billionaire owners and millionaire players fighting over more money than the average person can even dream about. So for that reason alone one side or another (more likely the owners) will give in to end the lockout. Fans were slow to come around after the previous lockout and another extended lockout would be hard to overcome.

The players will also play a part in making sure there are games played this season. They love playing the game obviously, but they also love receiving hefty paychecks so I expect everyone to stand strong for the beginning of the NBA season and state that they are willing to forgo the entire NBA season, but when it-s all said and done I expect the NBA to be in session this winter, but just don-t expect to see 82 games.
